PAREMOS EL “NOU MIL·LENNI”
El equipo de gobierno del ayuntamiento de Catarroja quiere construir 12.000 viviendas en los próximos años en la única zona de horta que queda en el pueblo. Contra esta barbaridad se ha constituido una Plataforma Vecinal: “Salvem Catarroja”para luchar contra ese proyecto. Estamos en contra porque:
Es una decisión impuesta desde fuera del pueblo y además Catarroja no tiene necesidad de esas viviendas.
El pueblo no tiene suficientes servicios publicos (escuelas, ambulatorio, parques y jardines, policía, etc.) estas deficiencias se incrementarán en caso de aprobarse dicho proyecto.
¿Habría suficiente abastecimiento de agua y luz para todos?
El corredor Nord se quedará corto generando retenciones que repercutirán en los otros accesos al pueblo.
El proyecto contempla la creación de un centro comercial que acabará con el pequeño comercio de Catarroja, cuando además ya estamos rodeados de amplias superficies comerciales.
El proyecto dividirá al pueblo en dos: Una Catarroja nueva y una vieja, una Catarroja rica y una pobre, ¿Cuál será la pobre?
Con 40.000 habitantes más se triplicarán los residuos sólidos y las aguas residuales. No se ha previsto ninguna solución para depurarlos o tratarlos. ¿Será lo que le falta a l’Albufera para morir DEFINITIVAMENTE?
Catarroja parará de ser una ciudad con personalidad, identidad y tradición a ser un apéndice de Valencia. Una ciudad dormitorio, despersonalizada.
Las 2.040 hanegadas (1.700.000 m2) que desaparecerán, son un pulmón verde para nuestra salud y de nuestros hijos.

Una sugerencia táctica: "Parar el nuevo milenio" no suena a objetivo razonable (ni atractivo).
Denunciar que el "nuevo milenio" no son más que los mismos chorizos con otros collares ("no tan nou mil·leni"), o que la especulación inmobiliaria y el enriquecimiento de unos pocos con la destrucción de capital vivo ya los conocíamos de anteriores milenios ("me recordarán de otros milenios por...") quizá sería más convincente.
En cualquier caso, suerte.
Inicialmente, este proyecto, tenía el nombre de Nova Catarroja, pero lo cambiaron por las connotaciones negativas que tenía... señal que sabian que a demasiados no nos iba a parecer bien, pues era demostrar esa diferenciación entre la Catarroja antigua (con falta de muchas cosas) y la nueva, en la que van a poner campos de futbol, pistas de paddel, huerta lúdica, etc. pero en el proyecto no aparecen colegios, ambulatorio, policia, y hay que tener en cuenta, que está previsto para unos 40.000 habitantes, casi el doble de la población que tiene hoy Catarroja.
Por esto, y por otras muchas cosas más, se ve, que el único criterio con el que se han regido para crear este proyecto, es el de la ganancia de millones de euros por una urbanizadora. Si hacemos una pequeña operación lo podreis ver, 12.000 pisos a un promedio de 185.000 € cada uno, nos da un resultado de 2.220.000.000 €, (no quiero ponerlo en las antiguas pesetas, pues sería de vértigo) ¿cuánto ganará la urbanizadora, teniendo en cuenta que las infraestructuras las han de pagar los propietarios de los terrenos?

Hoy, años despues, nos presentan un nueva, igual de emprendedora si cabe, pero con matices y diferencias que no hay que dejar escapar: El sudor y tranajo se ha convertido en el dinero facil, la falta de respeto, el hundimiento hacia familias enteras y la amenaza verbal.Ese grupo de hombres y mujeres, trabajadores de la tierra y el mar, se ha convertido en el enriquecimiento de unos pocos, afines en ideas y similares a la vieja mafia siciliana, utilizando el oscurantismo, el silencia y la mentira.
Desde aquí solo queda pedir, respeto, respeto para esas personas que a usted Sr. Chirivella, le han puesto en el sitio y le han otorgado ql poder que hoy ostenta, para esas, e incluso para aquellas que no lo han hecho, respeto para los ciudadanos del pueblo que usted gobierna, respeto para las familias y sus sentimientos, respeto a los recuerdos e incluso respeto para el dinero, dinero que todos ganamos mas o menos trabajando honradamente y usted y sus concejales, incluso las que no son "suyas" estan manchando de una forma ruín y mezquina.

En el "Levante" de hoy, sección Comarcas/ Patrimonio, se denuncia la desaparición de varias masías de reconocido valor histórico que contempla el plan "Nou mil.leni". Ese modo de hacer denuncias públicas puede resultar muy efectivo en vistas a posible futuras movilizaciones, aunque en el mencionado diario no se menciona directamente a la Plataforma "Salvem Catarroja".
Tras muchos años de lucha, la plataforma "Salvem el Botanic" acaba de conseguir la declaración de BIC (Bien de interés cultural) para el Jardín Botánico y su entorno, lo que impide la proyectada construccción de 3 torres de 20 alturas en el antiguo solar de Jesuitas, junto a la fachada del Botánico recayente a la G.V. Fernado el Católico. Así que mucho ánimo y suerte para "Salvem Catarroja".

El terreno donde está previsto la construcción del futuro programa urbanístico Nou Mil·lenni de 12.000 viviendas acoge desde hace siglos varias masías históricas y señoriales que son ejemplos de la arquitectura tradicional de la huerta de Catarroja y que desaparecerán al no haberse incluido en el PAI ningún elemento de protección. Sólo dos -la Masía d'Estrela y otra construcción- serán resguardadas en el nuevo plan pero otras cinco tienen los días contados con la primera piedra del proyecto.

La más antigua de las construcciones es l'Hort del Mestre o de les Mestres y que está considerada arquitectónicamente como la hermana gemela del Palau de Vivanco, actual sede del ayuntamiento. Levantada alrededor de 1750 ha sido, hasta hace 30 años, propiedad de una rama de la familia Borbón y con el fallecimiento de la última propietaria, Elena Oltra Borbón -que pertenecía también a la familia Benlliure-, se inició una época de expolio que a duras penas ha logrado mantener en pie sus paredes. Antes de su implacable deterioro, las paredes estaban decoradas de azulejos de Manises, contaba con una gran biblioteca y un pozo con techo abovedado y todavía se pueden ver dos canales en la fachada junto a la puerta que conectaban con dos armarios interiores y que servían para disparar a quienes pudieran estar atacando frontalmente la vivienda en una época de bandolerismo.Otra de las masías afectadas por el PAI de Nou Mil·lenni es el conocido Hort de Santa Anna, construido en 1868 con un estilo de inspiración musulmana -tiene una entrada con forma de arco de herradura- fruto de los viajes que muchos catarrogins hicieron a norte de África para servir militarmente.
Lindante con el término de Paiporta se levanta l'Hort de Sant Josep, otra de las joyas más antiguas de Catarroja. Construido a mediados del siglo XVIII -una década después del de les Mestres-, este caserío mantiene todavía un buen estado de conservación con numerosos detalles de la riqueza arquitectónica de la huerta y del regadío como una pequeña acequia en forma de muro que formaba un arco señorial junto a la puerta principal. Por último, se encuentra el Hort del Groc -del último cuarto del siglo XVIII o el primero del XIX- que no sólo conserva todavía su estructura sino también un retablo pintado de Manises y elementos modernistas añadidos en los años 30 del siglo XX.

A sus 84 años a Ángeles Martínez sólo le atormenta una cosa: tener que dejar su casa. «No quiero verme salir de aquí con una maleta en la mano», repite sin cesar. Desde que tuvo noticias de que el proyecto de Nou Mil·lenni supone la destrucción de su vivienda - l'Hort de Ferrís, de 1890-, esta madrileña ha convertido su día a día en un acto de resistencia.
Con ella viven -tras el fallecimiento de su marido hace dos semanas escasas-su hija Piedad y su hermana Margarita, de 81 años, además del yerno y una nieta. Y todos lo tienen claro: «nadie nos va a mover de aquí». «La alcaldesa le dijo a mi marido que estuviera tranquilo, que la casa no se tocaba y ahora nos dicen que no hay nada que hacer. En mi vida pensé que me pudiera pasar esto», explica Ángeles.

Mis abuelos era propietarios del Hort d'Oltra, cerca de Santa Ana, a unos metros apenas de la carretera que une Albal con Torrent (creo que ahora es autovía). Este año se produjeron elecciones municipales. Un comentario más arriba alguien dijo que el concejal de Urbanismo debía llamarse Atila Chirivella. ¿Quién lo eligió en su puesto? El pueblo de Catarroja que lo votó. Una de dos:
- o el alcalde y los concejales del PP engañaron en la campaña electoral al pueblo de Catarroja
- o toda esta movida está formada por una minoría y la mayoría de los habitantes de Catarroja están a favor del Nou Mil.leni
De todos modos creo que el Nou Mil.leni va a ser un fracaso. Pagar 200.000 euros (más de 30 millones)por una vivienda sin cloacas, con escasez de agua, sin colegios cerca, ni policía más parece el timo de la estampita que una promoción inmobiliaria. Han habido ya muchos casos de ventas de viviendas de una calidad ínfima y sin los servicios necesarios y la gente está muy quemada. Además el mercado inmobiliario está un poco ralentizado. La gente se lo piensa mucho antes de gastar tanto dinero. No creo que construyan más de mil o dos mil viviendas y más de la mitad quedarán sin vender.
